Celebrating traditions as a family
On the 1st of November, the Colegio Britt community immersed itself in the rich tradition of the Day of the Dead through its annual festival 'Living the Day of the Dead.' The event was a vibrant experience filled with color, art, and symbolism that allowed students, parents, and staff to celebrate and preserve one of the most representative festivities of Mexican culture.
The festival included a theatrical performance where students showcased their talent for acting, singing, and dancing, explaining the traditions and significance of this special date. The performance captured the essence of the Day of the Dead, highlighting its defining elements: the connection between generations, the remembrance of loved ones, and the celebration of life.
Additionally, an emotional altar contest was held, in which participating families demonstrated their creativity and dedication by setting up offerings full of details and symbolism. Each altar reflected special care in its preparation, featuring elements such as marigold flowers, photos, and objects that honored the memory of the deceased. The competition was intense due to the high quality of the altars presented, making it difficult for the judges to choose the winners.
The festival was a true display of the effort and collaboration of the entire Britt community. Thanks to the students and their families for their active participation and to the coaches for their guidance and constant support. This event once again demonstrated how traditions can be experienced, shared, and passed down to new generations, strengthening identity and community bonds.
